03 May Saltwater Edge Fishing Report: Action Picking Up!
Saltwater Edge Fishing Report: 5/3/13
It seemed like a long time coming; but the action is picking up on all fronts and locations. As you would expect stripers and tautog are available in their usual early season haunts. Especially in the past few days the ‘tog have really been on the feed. Stripers have bumped up in size with bass to 15 pounds in the lower Bay and along the ocean front being reported. Some of these fish are most certainly making their way to the upper Bay herring runs. There are also reports of bluefish throughout the Bay, not in bothersome numbers; but the teeth are back in town. Lastly, there have been a number of squeateague caught so far this year on lures as big as swim shads and as small as shrimp fly teasers.
This is the time of year you would expect to find them in local waters. If this tasty treat interests you Jimmy Fee at On The Water wrote a good recap earlier this week. Check it out.
If you have been waiting to get on the water this weekend seems like a good time. Tight lines!
